Driving from Albuquerque to Flagstaff offered so much eye candy, it was ridiculous. It seemed like an entirely new landscape was before us every time we turned a corner. Shortly after crossing into Arizona, we stopped to see the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert.
We stayed two nights in Flagstaff because there was so much we wanted to see in Arizona. We were both very grateful that we had enough foresight while planning to break it into two days and stay in one place for more than a night. It felt like a luxury to sleep in, keep the cats at the hotel, and not have to pack up the car yet again.
The second day we drove up to the Grand Canyon. Upon seeing it for the first time, Jess and I both just looked at each other, mouths agape, and said that we didn't even know what to take a picture of. It is that big and that overwhelming and that downright mind boggling.
Our next destination was Las Vegas, which I will write about in part 3, but on our way there, we continued to see amazing landscapes, including this scenic overlook of the Colorado River.
I knew next to nothing about these places, so I was completely blown away the sights we encountered. It wound up being one of my favorite places we saw during the trip.

To be continued in part 3. Can you stand the anticipation?!
haha, I can't stand it! Great pictures though, the Grand Canyon is definitely on my "bucket list" of places to visit!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely stop and see it if you ever get the chance!
