Hello and thanks for visiting Squalor Holler! My name is Sarah and I am a 20something librarian currently living in the Bay Area.
My story is one of overcoming squalor. I grew up with a mother who is a hoarder. We had and continue to have a very dysfunctional relationship. The years of hardship and humiliation I spent living with her ultimately motivated me to move away from my home in Pennsylvania and relocate to Virginia and now California.
Because of my tumultuous past, I strive to better myself everyday and I would like to communicate a message of hope for those who have gone through or are currently going through similar problems. This blog is for anyone, not just fellow children of hoarders, who is trying to live for the present and plan for the future despite a rocky past.
Some of my interests include cats (I have a Siamese and a ginger), pesco-vegetarianism, cooking and baking, playing Scrabble, art and design, green living, traveling both internationally and domestically, spending time with friends, learning, reading, and writing.
Welcome! I love to hear from my readers, so please leave a comment, send me an email, and or follow me on Twitter to start the conversation.
